Although Ratanakiri is very far from the capital city of Phnom Penh about 588km by road, but its home to Cambodia’s ethnic minorities and some of its endangered wildlife and the place to go for trekking, eco-travel and natural beauty. Most people come to Banlung to trek. However, there are also opportunities to explore the origin of Ratanakiri and learn about the indigenous people life who form up the region for thousand of years. Banlung market is most colorful in the early morning, when local indigenous women (Chunchiet) set up around outside of the market, puffing on bamboo pipes of large cigars made from tobacco rolled up in leaves.
